In 1986, Steve Strusinski was working for a company in decline and decided to make a move. He became a licensed Realtor and now helps thousands of homeowners make the move.

Not long afterward, his wife, Dianna joined the team. Steve takes great pride in his partnership with her. "She’s not only my wife and business partner, but my very best friend as well. As a result, I consider myself very blessed."

In 1996, Sara Bates came aboard as licensed assistant and office manager. "She pretty much keeps the ship upright," Steve notes.

After 14 years in the business, the Strusinskis still get excited about their work. "Everything is still thrilling to us, which makes it easy to be inspired and to spend as much time and energy as we do helping buyers and sellers."

Steve and Dianna also work hard because they hate to fail. They will do whatever it takes to get the job done and to make sure their customer is pleased. In addition to providing what customers should expect, such as creative and aggressive marketing or good negotiating skills, Steve has personally cleaned home for a short notice showing, walked the dog when the sellers couldn’t get home in time, and hand delivered a contract to a client in Star Prairie, Wisconsin in order to beat a deadline. "You do whatever you ethically can to get to the closing table."

The Strusinski's strive to help their customers get what they want in the time frame that fits their needs and for the dollar amount that fits their financial situation, with as little inconvenience to their customers as possible.

As a result, the majority of their business comes through referrals from past clients. "If you have a Realtor you respect and trust, be loyal to him or her. A good Realtor can be as valuable to your family as a good accountant or attorney," Steve says.

Their unbeatable service includes a staff doing their utmost to maintain a high level of communication with all their customers, who appreciate being extremely well informed about one of the most important transactions of their lives.

Risk-taking is an adjective Steve uses often to describe himself. It’s the trait that just may give his business the edge it needs to stay on top in a very competitive industry. It began with one of the more daunting risks one could ever take — changing careers. In 1986, he left a stable job at a nut company with regular wages and benefits and went into real estate. Today his risky and difficult business generates $8 million in sales.

Dianna also worked for the nut company, which is where they met. But when they started to lay people off, she left and worked at a brewery while Steve established his real estate career. As his business blossomed, Steve needed a partner; today, Dianna is his fully licensed, full time partner. Sarah Bates is now the office administrator, making sure all runs smoothly.

Dianna and Steve complement each other very well. Being easy-going herself, Dianna puts people at ease, so she goes to market evaluations, open houses and showings. The number-cruncher, Steve talks business with clients. He handles pressure well, so he is the fast and aggressive part of the team. However, in meeting Steve, you will find a warm, personable man at the negotiating table.

The support between the husband and wife team members nurtures both their relationship and their business. Steve says, "It’s fun to see her work — she’s so important to this business. If I’d known how much better the service would be with her, I would have had her jump in immediately. We sold a house today that she had worked hard on and she got to see the fruits of her labor."

You’ve probably seen their occasionally unconventional ads. Not confined to the glamorous head shot, Steve will on occasion, pose backward. "Creative marketing is vital in today’s industry. That sometimes means taking a risk to get people to notice our properties and ourselves. I’m not afraid to do something stupid — it exposes my client’s property."
